I respectfully request that
you deny parole for Ricky Carter. The devastating impact this
deadly drunk driver had on our community cannot be
overstated. His flawed judgment and flagrant disregard for
the safety and well-being of others caused the death of four
precious teenage girls.
The destruction did not end
with the killing of these four exceptionally bright young
girls. The families of all four victims have suffered horribly
since that deadly night. Three of the four families were
never able to recover from the devastation of losing not only
their daughter, but the loss of all the other girls in a very
close group of families. Each family was an extension of the
other families. Each of those families have been torn apart
by divorce, one of the fathers has died and one of the mothers
cannot be found.
Who will be punished the most
for Ricky Carter’s crimes? His time in confinement amounts to
15 months incarceration for killing each of his four victims.
The surviving family members will pay for Carter’s deadly
actions for the rest of their lives. How can that possibly be
considered “criminal justice”?
I trust that you will make the
best possible decision for not only the victimized families,
but for all Texans. Again, I respectfully request you deny
parole for Ricky Carter.
